I cannot use this item. My cat became sick. She likes to lick all kinds of things and when she licked this cat mate she got sick. I would not recommend it. I wish I could return it.

I got this mat so that my cats would stop tracking the blue crystals all over the floor. The problem is that the crystals end up getting stuck in the loops over time. I've tried to vacuum it as well as shake it out and it's really hard to get those buggers free.
For those that aren't aware of the design of this mat, it is constructed with carpet-like loops of plastic. While it looks good and does match the box and cover, I actually replaced it with a small swatch of regular carpet. Believe it or not, it's easier to get the crystals out of the carpet with a vacuum cleaner than it is to get them out of this mat... I am rather disappointed.

This carpet really helps reduce the amount of litter that is tracked through my house. Every couple of days I have to shake the litter off of it because it is covered in litter. It didn't eliminate the problem completely, but was well worth the money!

This goes with the automatic litter tray and it does help to collect crystals on my cats paws when she gets out of the litter box.
BTW, I was afraid that it would scare my cat...not at all! It goes on 15 minutes after she gets out, so it's a curiosity for her, vs. nerve-racking.

A must have for the automatic cat litter box Mar 25, 2009
The ScoopFree Anti-Tracking Carpet has really cut down the amount of litter left around the outside of the Scoopfree automatic litter box. We used to have litter all around the laundry room that had to be swept up daily. By using the hood and the anti tracking carpet, the problem was solved. When our cat jumps out of the litter box, the litter that sticks to her feet is now trapped in the anti tracking carpet instead of spreading all over the laundry room and eventually all over the house. It has worked beautifully for us.
