Glad We Spent the Money! Jul 24, 2006
By L. Larchyk We recently purchased this cabinet/stand for use with a Littermaid box. The cabinet itself looks pretty nice and was easy to assemble (15 minutes- tops). The Littermaid box sits on top and the clumps drop down into an (almost) endless disposal bag. There is virtually NO odor from the litterbox anymore!
With two cats, we were cleaning the Littermaid three times a week and it would have been better to do it every other day. Now, we only need to add a scoop of litter to the box every two or three days and change the bag every TWO weeks!!
The only bad thing I can think of to say is that it makes the litterbox more prominent in the room as the littermaid and cabinet sits about 3' high. We live in an apartment. For someone with a laundry room or a bigger place to keep it, this would be absolutely no problem at all.
I would recommend this product to anyone who hates dealing with the smell and constant maintenance of a litterbox.

Paying for the Convenience Nov 02, 2006
By Sarah I've owned a Littermaid Mega for about 5 years and I really wish I had been able to buy this stand sooner. We have two cats and we're terribly lazy. We've had this stand for a few months and it works as described. It has drastically reduced the smell and the need to clean the box. WE LOVE THIS STAND and it has made life a lot more bearable when it comes to the litter box.
Our old Littermaid just died on us and we went to replace it with a new Littermaid Elite but the stand isn't large enough. The newer Elite model is much longer than this stand and it will hang off the back and over the sides. We love that stand more than we want the newer Littermaid Elite and we are getting a great deal on the old style of the Littermaid Mega from Amazon. I would just be aware, before buying this, that it only fits the old style of Littermaids. That being said, if you're handy with power tools and woodwork than you might be able to modify it...it is a simple design.
UPDATE (5/14/08): Still happy with our stand. We use standard kitchen garbage bags we buy in bulk to save a little money. I read from the comments that they do now support ALL Littermaids!

not bad, if you can get your cats to use it Apr 05, 2008
By J. SOWARD As described in the other reviews this simple box with a hole in it lets you keep the LM series in action longer between changes, and reduces the operating costs. You could build one yourself probably for $25 in parts, but even an experienced wood worker would take a couple of hours and you'd still have to find some appropriately sized continuous bags.
I had a hard time getting my cats to use it. It's pretty high off the ground, and there's not a lot of space for them to land on. It seemed like they couldn't see where they were going so they stayed away. I eventually built them a 10" high 'step' they could get on to ease their way into it.
Be sure to remember to change the bag every couple of weeks, if not it will get so large that it will not come out of the cabinet and/or the bag will rip.

Fabulous!!!! Jan 07, 2008
By Sara A. Ward This is an absolute must for households like mine with multiple cats. I have had mine for a couple of months and I couldn't imagine going back to the plain old boxes.

Improves the Littermaid 1000% Dec 01, 2010
By Victoria
This is one of the best products I've ever purchased!
My attitude towards my Littermaid has gone from LOVE/HATE to LOVE/LOVE since I added the Litter Works cabinet. :)
The disposable containers were always the major drawback for the LM, and the expense was the very least of the problems. The waste receptacles weren't big enough and had to be changed constantly for a multi-cat household -- and changing the damn things was worse than just scooping a normal litterbox. The edges of the receptable would get crusted with filth, making it difficult or impossible to remove them without touching the ickiness. Because of the way they snap into the unit, taking them out almost invariably flicked specks of soiled litter onto the floor or (worse yet) right up into my face. Yuck. Plus, my kitties seem to prefer one side of the box, so all the waste was raked into one corner of the small receptacle and it would start overflowing onto the floor while still 75% empty. And finally, since the containers are made of flimsy, brittle plastic, periodically a full one would break or crack while I was trying to remove it, spewing a god-awful mess all over the place.
All of this is solved with the Litter Works cabinet.
Seriously, this thing is awesome. You can go MUCH longer in between waste removal, which is great. But the really, really great thing is how much cleaner everything is. The bag isn't going to overflow even if you're tardy about changing it sometimes. It no longer matters if your cats are always pooping on one side of the box and not the other; it still won't overflow. The sturdy, thick plastic chute isn't going to break, and bad odors are contained much better when the waste is funneled down into a bag inside a closed cabinet rather than into that tiny waste receptacle (When the rake pushes the lid up, the old clumps are farther away from the opening, so the smell doesn't waft out so strongly. Also, you have room to spare in the waste bags, so you can add a generous scoop of baking soda or litter deodorizer to each new bag, then sprinkle more on top in between bag-changes if needed.) Best of all, when you change bags, you're not touching anything gross. You only have to handle the clean, outside surface of the bag. It's easy and there are really no possible mishaps to worry about.
Personally, I use trash compactor bags, which work great. They're exactly the right size and they're much thicker than standard kitchen trash bags, so no holes, rips, or spills. Just save the cardboard dispenser from the bags that come with your cabinet, then use it as a frame for your trash bags.
I would enthusiastically recommend this product to anyone with cats. It makes your Littermaid function the way you always wished it would! :)
