Littermaid Elite Box

Cats use their litterbox 3-5 times per day. Veterinarians recommend that for the health of your cat and everyone in your home, you should clean the litterbox of clumps after EVERY use. Of course, for most of us, that is simply not practical. The Littermaid Elite Litterbox allows you to keep your cat and family healthy by disposing of cat litter clumps every time they go, day or night, and even while you are away from your home. You and your cat will LOVE it.

  • Constantly Clean Litter Box: Unit automatically rakes waste into sealable container minutes after us

  • Sensor-Activated Ionic Air Cleaner: Detects when cat exits the unit, activating the ionic air cleane

  • Sleep Timer for Nighttime Use: Rake is at rest for 9 hours, then ionic air cleaner cycles on for 10

  • Removable Stainless Steel Rake: Durable rake detaches easily for cleaning.

  • Extra Large Capacity: Ideal for large and/or multiple cat households.

1Not worth the trouble  Jul 04, 2010
We bought this unit thinking that autocleaning would take care of the litter, but our cat kicks the litter all over the place and the motor is too weak. Even if the litter box is filled to the indicated minimum, the motor is too weak to cycle-- nevermind when there's waste in it. This machine has turned out to be a lot more work and trouble. We not only have to clean the box manually, but we have to sweep up a larger area than before.

2Don't waste your money!  Apr 29, 2009
First off you have to use World's Best cat litter with this unit to get it to work at all. But if you try to put litter in it even up to the upper fill line when the rake scoops waste products it ends up scooping half the litter in to the waste receptical too. There are two problems with that, one you are wasting a lot of really expensive cat litter, and two you have to change the waste receptical more frequantly because it's full of clean cat litter and hardly any poop.

The only good thing is that it does scoop itself. But it does get pretty dirty and any waste that get by the rake at scoop time gets pushed back up behind the rake and stuck there so it can really start to stick. The unit also seems to get very dirty and a big pain in the butt to clean, there are so many peices you have to take apart and move around and clean it just ends up taking forever.

Honestly, just buy a Cat Genie, they are expesive but worth every penny.CatGenie 120 Self-Washing Self-Flushing Cat Box This thing actually stays clean because it litterally washes itself with soap and water, and you never have to worry about changing a waste receptical. Everything just gets flushed into the sewer/septic tank.

1Utterly Disappointed  Feb 28, 2009
Having owned a Litermaid in the past and being completely happy with it, I thought I would purchase another one. Despite the reviews I figured that it couldn't be that bad. WRONG! The motor for the rake is worthless. The rake itself is worthless, as the prongs are too widely spaced to catch everything. The rake doesn't always put the waste into the waste receptacle, instead just gathering it at the end of the liter bed and then ceasing to work because it's "jammed." I will definately be contacting the manufacturer and demanding my money back. Please, I beg of you, don't waste your money on this machine!

1A cardboard box would be better  Feb 24, 2009
This Littermaid Elite Box is absolutely worthless. Right from the beginning, the rake would not scoop the litter and I would have to go and hand-scoop it myself. If I did not scoop it in a couple of days, the wet litter would become a messy clay that would get stuck behind the rake. I finally got frustrated and had to throw the whole thing out. A cardboard box or a $5 plastic tray would have been better. I've had the basic LitterMaid model in the past and went back to that model and am very satisfied with that one.

1Junk  Jan 22, 2009
My family is on our 4th liter maid. The other three were all the basic litter maids, and all worked ok for several years before jamming up beyond repair. This last time we replaced it with a litter maid elite. What a piece of junk. For starters, it just feels cheaply made. After assembly, I discovered that the trays don't fit properly either. Cutting off the corners seemed to get them to fit, if barely. Once I filled it with litter, I came across another problem. The motor is so underpowered, that it struggles just to even out the liter. If I fill it to the fill mark, it can just make the full cycle. If I fill it to full mark, it jams. This is before the cat got to it. Even with the minimum amount of litter, it is unable to clean the box after the cat uses it. I now have to every day go and clean the litter for it. This defeats the purpose of having the thing in the first place. I might as well have just bought a plain box and saved some money.

The litter maid elite is completely useless.
