Makes life easier Dec 01, 2009 I bought this item to go with a littermaid litter box. My goal was to get the litter box off the floor to keep my dogs out of it (yech) and to make it easier to change the bin. I have two cats and we were having to dump the normal bin with the pan up to twice per week. We used the roll of plastic bags provided and that lasted a few weeks, you roll it down and tie it off as needed. It came in a little cardboard frame to keep it open for the litter dump. We decided it was going to be too expensive to replace, so we found a small bathroom size garbage can that had notches on the side to hold plastic grocery bags in place. We put 5 or 6 in at a time and then just pull out the top one with the litter and leave the rest there. The can fits perfectly under the chute and catches everything with no mess. Now we dump the litter 2-4 times per month. Longer than that gets stinky.
My only complaint is that for the price I paid, I think it should have made out of something more than 1/2 inch and quarter inch plywood and could have been finished a little better. Not knocking the stars for it, but think it could be improved for the amount it cost.
LOVE IT!!
great convenience for LM owners Aug 15, 2009 I've been using Littermaid self-cleaning boxes for several years now, in a multi-cat household (3-4 well-housebroken kitties). Started using this stand/disposal system last year - am on my second Littermaid box.
This is a great convenience and time-saver - makes the Littermaid more no-fuss "self-cleaning". Cleanup and service are now a weekly/biweekly chore instead of daily checks, and it helps keeps the box fresher-smelling and more "kitty friendly".
Only drawback is that the consumables (trash bags) are a bit expensive, but IMO the convenience is worth it.
The vendor, debnroo is a GREAT seller on Amazon... great customer service, and very knowledgeable about their products. I will continue to buy product from them.

Stand and garbage receptacle for Littermaid Mega auto litter box Dec 27, 2008 Seller promised to send me the missing assembly instructions via e-mail. It was never received and no follow-up was given to see if I received it. An extra piece of wood was included to which I do not see where it possibly could go; also, dowels were included which had no holes predrilled in the unit for their use. The unit is put together with unfinished (unpainted and unstained)wood. Seller said this was so buyer could color it the way they wished. Once I figured out the assembly it went together okay, minus the extra parts. The continuous bag included with the unit that draws out of the rectangular box works okay but the retainer assembly is not an exact fit. I suggest using an appropriately sized garbage can without the lid. Use suitable garbage bags instead, and you'll save money in the end.
I would only use this unit with the Littermaid Mega as the newer model with the steel combs does not pick up well at all and should be avoided as most waste is left in the litter box for you to clean it out manually! The newer model Littermaid is very badly designed in this area and is less sturdy and more cheaply constructed in my opinion.
A word to the wise: Get the seller to send you the assembly instructions first before you buy it. If he doesn't then he can keep it, as you look for another seller of the unit.
One last thing, a small piece of medium shag carpet cut to fit in front of the litter box and held to top wood of unit with Velcro will work fine if you put four pieces of Velcro 1/4" from each corner, and if possible bend down a piece of this carpet about 12" down and secure with Velcro s well. This will protect your cat's paws from the edge of the wood and jumping onto hard smooth wood (with age it could yield a splinter).

Best Invention since popcorn Oct 16, 2008 Fantastic product. Litter bag easy to cut and tie off, especially using the litterworks ties. Only drawback (and I consider it minor) is that I had to paint and polyurethane cabinet which took a couple of days to dry. With 3 cats I was changing the waste receptacle container every other day; now I only change the bag every 7-10 days. I do not have an odor problem either. Would recommend this product to anyone who has multiple cats using the automatic litter box.

Good idea, but be prepared to finish it. Aug 25, 2008 I bought the box with the expectations of having a cleaner environment for my two cats. I still haven't set it up yet because the wood was so unfinished I had to paint it with two coats of paint to seal it. It could not have been kept clean or sanitary without it. For the price I was disappointed with the quality, especially of the doors. It came assembled, which was a plus. I hope it will be worth the effort. From the positive reviews, I wonder if the product has reduced it's quality? I can't believe that others weren't concerned as well.
