wonderfull product Apr 22, 2010 Not sure what is wrong with everyone else that put a review, this is as smiple as plug and play. No one said you would never have to clean these things, like anything else you do have to do maintance for them to operate properly. Mine ran perfectly right out of the box. Bought 2 of them and within 72hrs had them at my door. So far so good. Had a shipping question and shipper responded within the hour of sending the email. All i can suggest to anyone who buys this one or any littermaid product is this, DON'T OVERFILL THE LITTER PAN. That is the biggest cause of jams. If you fill it per instructions, there should be no problems, what happens is your cat(s) burries their business it can shift the litter from one side to the other. If its overfilled it will jam. But with occasional maintance and proper litter levels and scoopable litter(I use special kitty), this is a PERFECT product. ***NOTE*** WHEN FILLING THIS WITH LITTER, only use the scoople and super fine litter, and DO NOT FILL to the full line, only fill to the add litter line or between the two. If you fill it full and your cat uses it there will be too much in one side or the other for the unit to work properly, so UNDERFILL the pan.
A flop of modern technology Jul 24, 2009 The Littermaid One Step looks elegant. When you press the foot pedal, you smile. The disposable cat pans are great. Even still, this product is a flop of modern technology and I wish I hadn't thrown away my regular cat box just days ago.
Why? Well, because the product is semi-automatic. You actually have to monitor your cat, wait 10 minutes, and then hit the activating foot pedal. You'll still smile about the rake moving on its own - that is, until the motor can't push your cats clumped litter up a plastic ramp into the disposable pan. Yes, the product will quickly reverse its direction from plow to retreat if the litter clump is too heavy.
At this point, you are double stepping on the foot pedal to give courage to the rake so it will scoop up your cat's clumps and once again it fails or after three attempts it finally reaches the disposable bin and simply can't push the clump into the tray. Sometimes the machine will rake over a cat dropping and on its retreat to standby position, it rakes the clump behind itself and gets stuck there as well.
All in all, this machine costs you an extra 5 minutes per cat box maintenance and in the end you will have to get your kitty scooper out and do what you were doing prior to your purchase. You can't trust this machine to clean your cat box, only aggravate you and make you wonder why you bought something else you have to supervise.
Hot Garbage Jan 10, 2009 This box is terrible. I got it after my original littermaid died. (My old modle lasted about 6yrs) This one was a real piece of junk. You cannot take the waste recepticle out without it snapping and spraying waste all over. The rake gets stuck constantly and mine broke after about a month in a place that you CANNOT fix. Don't waste your money.

Hunk of Junk! Cheap "Littermaid" for those not wanting to pay $100 Feb 13, 2008 This is a hunk of junk. I had a fully automatic Littermaid and this "one-step" is just a cheap knock-off of the original. If you don't constantly run over there and step on it so it scoops the litter it gets jammed up whenever it tries to scoop more than one bathroom usage. This is for people who have heard great things about Littermaids from their friends and family so they want one but don't want to pay $100. Think Littermaid's going to have a lot of disgruntled customers. All this is is a cat box with a rake that you step-on to trigger it to move, why is it even $40+? Should be less than $20 tops.

NO MORE SMELL!!!!! Jan 10, 2008 I have looked at the reviews for every automatic or Semi automatic litter box on the market. I decided to try the Semi automatic. I have to say that if you want something for nothing or you think that anything will do all your work for you, then don't buy any type of automatic or Semi automatic box!
I have 2 cats they adjusted the first day. I bought the multiple cat clumping litter filled it to the line put the plastic container in and waited till they went. I noticed that I put to much litter in even thought I only filled it to the line. I took some out and it worked like a dream! I would rather press the button then it run buy it self because I don't have to worry about the cats being in the box when it starts. I do have to press it every morning and every night but I would say that is clears 95% of the clumps and sometimes I have to scoop but that is part of having cats. At times it has to much weight and stops so I just use the scoop and get a few of the larger clumps and then it goes just fine. It is such a relief not to have to dump the entire box clean it out and then dry it and put another bag in for it to smell in a few hours. I would buy this again in a second
