3works well enough- but  May 13, 2006

Plain old charcoal briquettes work even better. We have 3 cats, and our littermaid gets a workout. The filters did cut the odor, but I've found that a couple of charcoal briquettes works really well, and they're much cheaper.

3Better, but  May 12, 2007
By Abby Blake
The filters do seem to do the job. The odor from the cat box is less than without the filter. But the adhesive that holds it in place could be better. Frequently the filter ends up in the receptacle because the adhesive has failed.

5Carbon filters  Feb 27, 2006
By Sean M. Moats "dad2brit"
The carbon filters are great. We have just recently had a friend move in with us and brought her cat and we still can't tell that they have been usung the litterbox. the filters eliminate all odors.

3Not convinced  Jul 07, 2008
By John W. Graham
My wife insists that these "filters" reduce odor. I think they do reduce odor, but only by a small margin. Maybe 15% or less. My biggest complaint is the cost. These simple carbon stickers are way overpriced, just as the plastic waste recepticles are overpriced. I think a better alternative is to buy a Febreze True Air filter, which lasts a month or longer, and plug it in near the litter box.The carbon filter on the True Air filter is much larger and is active versus passive. As an added bonus, some True Air models come with a nightlight to help kitty see when he/she has to use the box at night. Please reconsider spending money on these cheap carbon stickers. As a final note, I have had no issues with these falling off once applied.

5Louise Buckner  Feb 06, 2007

I bought the automatic Littermaid scooper that uses these filters. Unfortunately the filters need to be changed almost daily to keep odors down. This can be very expensive however I have bought liners for it on Ebay and now change the liners. The filters also come with a charcoal stick on to fit the lid but it always falls off after the first or second time the litterbox rakes. I have to tape the charcoal pad to the receptacle lid. Manual scooping? versus electric scooping? is still an unanswered question for me. Both are a lot of dirty work. Louise Buckner
