fantastic foutain & save money on filters Apr 11, 2010
By Brian Evans

i have 5 cats that drink from the foutain. i put ice cubes into the bowl to chill the water and to watch them play with the cubes. at first, changing filters every week or 2 weeks got expensive and adds to the landfill. however, i experimented with opening them up. i lightly squeeze them in a vice. then i split them apart with a small screwdriver. i cut filters from "filter cloth" pads available at fish/pet stores. i replace the charcoal, also from pet stores. (plain charcoal, not mixed with ammonia remover) i rinse as instructed and have had no problems. i change them more frequently now. i used original drinkwell 360 filters. i can make a video showing my process if someone needs help. hope this works for someone else. Works well, but hard to clean and the filters are a mess Mar 16, 2010

The basic function of this product is to create moving water for finicky cats... and it does this quite well. However, the design leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to cleaning. To clean it, you have to complete disassemble the entire thing. With all the plastic pieces, it's just a matter of time before something breaks. Second, the filters may be a scam. They quickly form a rather disgusting gel-like substance that means you need to dispose quickly. Changing them every two weeks as recommended would make the cost of ownership comparable to Honda Accord. Also, I'm not convinced that the filters aren't what's causing the water to get so greasy so quickly.
Solution - skip the filters and used filtered water. Since abandoning the filters, the things runs better, the cats like it better and it doesn't get a dirty as quickly.
I'm shocked there isn't something better on the market, but this looks to be top of the line. All you inventors out there, get to work!

Drinkwell 360 is the best Jun 26, 2009
By C. K. Obrien I've tried several watering systems for my cats but this is the first one that my "fraidy cat", Karli took to almost immediately. She's wary of anything new, but this worked out great. I soak the filter in a bowl for about an hour to remove the loose charcoal instead of just rinsing it. That extra step has made a huge difference. I also add filtered water when the level drops so I've been able to get three weeks use out of a filter. I've never had a problem with clogging at all. Each cat uses it differently. My male cat, Theadore drinks out of the bowl and Karli drinks from the top where the water comes out - very cute to watch.

Keep your cats healthy! Dec 13, 2009
By R. Parmenter Awhile back, my cat Pickles had a urinary blockage. It was really stressful for him and for us, and treatment involved catheterization, manual expression of his bladder, and poor Pickles having to wear a cone for 3 days, which not only disturbed him, but also disturbed his twin brother, Bonkers, turning him from the sweetest fur-ball in the world to a growling, brother-hating beast.
Once Pickles had recovered (and thankfully, Bonkers too let down his guard and stopped hissing), one of the dietary recommendations was that we get a drinking fountain for our cats. Ironically, we had begun using a Drinkwell 360 drinking fountain for our cats' water not too long before Pickles's issue. However, if we had gotten it earlier, perhaps his issue could have been prevented.
Water fountains are supposed to encourage cats to drink more, because there is supposedly some primal instinct ingrained that says flowing water is better than standing water.
Anyhow, these replacement filters for the Drinkwell 360 pet fountain are affordable and make sure that your pets have a constant supply of clean, flowing water. And if your pets drink more than they would otherwise, it could save you thousands in veterinary specialist dollars.

These filters are very convenient and easy to use. I wish they came in a bigger quantity to reduce the cost.
